Why So Serious?

Several years back during a yoga class an instructor adjusted me, not on my form, but on my frown.
She said, “yoga is not meant to be serious, enjoy yourself.”
At first, I felt self-conscious receiving that statement wanting to smile so as to be perfect. But once I smiled, I felt grateful. I then cried in awareness of how much joy I deprive myself of and went on to laugh at the complete ridiculousness of my mind and the abundance of love in my heart.
We take ourselves so seriously that we can easily get caught up thinking about how well we are doing something rather than allowing ourselves to enjoy it.
Life is a celebration.
Every. Single. Moment.
May we invite more lightness and laughter into the celebration of our lives.
